If you are getting an error message in Skype that it is offline, it means skype is not connected.

To make Skype connect do the following:

• Make sure that in Settings -> Skype "Sign In Automatically" is enabled
• When you start skype go to the "My Info" tab and set Status to Online

After that Skype should connect and you should be able to make calls!
